JDM4U / explore Japanese cars for UK life
Find your kind
of Japanese car.
Every great drive starts with curiosity.
From Alphard family space and compact hybrids to the cars we never stop talking about. Discover the model, compare the options and know what to check.
THE CARS BEHIND THE CURIOSITY
Start with a car.
Follow the story.
Three Japanese model stories, three different ways to enjoy their engineering. Open a scene, then follow the research into the Garage.
02 / THE PRACTICAL HATCH
Fit Hybrid RS
Small outside. A more interesting story inside.
03 / THE SPORTS SALOON
Lexus IS 350
Four doors and naturally aspirated V6 character.01 / CHOOSE YOUR ROUTE
Find the car for
your kind of life.
Five clear categories across 19 model families. Research references, not live stock.GAME CHANGER
Don’t just browse the car.
Explore it. Drive it.
JDM4U turns the usual car catalogue into a research journey. Open a profile, save the cars that stay in your head and put up to three of them into My Garage before you decide what deserves the driveway.
01 / PICK YOUR ROUTE
Three ways
to get your JDM.
The route changes the timing, evidence and cash you need. Start with the option that fits, then confirm the individual vehicle before committing.
Buy in the UK.
A car already in the UK can avoid international shipping time. Current availability should always be confirmed before relying on a post or listing.
Catch one in transit.
A vehicle already secured and moving toward the UK may sometimes be available before arrival. Status and timing are confirmed case by case.
Source from Japan.
Share the model, specification, must-have options and budget. Suitable candidates can be reviewed before you approve a purchase.
WHY LOOK IN JAPAN?
More choice.
Check the car.
Japan can open up models, specifications and individual vehicles that are difficult to find in the UK. But "Japanese import" is not a condition guarantee. The individual car, available auction information, photographs, condition notes and documents still matter.
02 / THE IMPORT JOURNEY
Japan to UK.
Step by step.
The exact route depends on the individual car. The important part is knowing what is confirmed, what is estimated and what still needs checking before money moves.

Define the target
Model, year range, specification, must-have options, realistic budget and timing.
- 02
Find candidates and review evidence
Compare available auction information, photographs, condition notes, mileage information and documentation for each candidate.
- 03
Approve the car and budget
Decide only after the specific vehicle and expected landed / road-ready cost have been reviewed.
- 04
Purchase and export
Complete the agreed purchase route in Japan, export handling and shipping arrangements.
- 05
UK import and compliance
Handle the applicable import, tax, port and vehicle-compliance requirements for that car.
- 06
Prepare and register
Carry out required checks or adjustments and complete the registration steps that apply.
- 07
Handover
Confirm the final paperwork, condition and agreed handover details in the UK.
BEFORE YOU COMMIT
The bid is not
the budget.
The car price is only one line. Depending on the route, the total can also include Japan-side fees, inland transport, shipping, insurance, UK duty and VAT where applicable, port handling, compliance work, registration, preparation and delivery.
Use a vehicle-specific written estimate for the landed and road-ready total. Do not assume every JDM car takes the same compliance or tax route.
03 / JDM INSPIRATION
Dream cars.
Realistic picks.
Performance icons and everyday Japanese-market cars can both make sense. These cards are inspiration only: no live availability is implied unless a vehicle is explicitly labelled as stock.

05 / WHO IS BEHIND JDM4U?
Japan Motor Hub.
Clearly labelled.
JDM4U is a buyer-education project from Japan Motor Hub.
It exists to make the Japan-to-UK route easier to understand before a buyer commits. Inspiration is labelled as inspiration, historical experience is labelled as historical, and live availability should be confirmed rather than assumed from an old post or image.
06 / QUICK ANSWERS
Before you
send money.
Four questions worth answering before any specific vehicle becomes a real purchase.
Is JDM4U a live dealer stock website?
No. JDM4U is a buyer-education portal from Japan Motor Hub. Inspiration and past-project vehicles are not live stock unless they are explicitly labelled as available.
How much does it cost to import a car from Japan?
There is no useful one-size-fits-all number. The total depends on the vehicle price, Japan-side costs, shipping, UK duty and VAT where applicable, port handling, compliance work, registration and preparation. Ask for a vehicle-specific landed and road-ready estimate.
Does every Japanese import need IVA?
Not necessarily. GOV.UK lists cars and minibuses with no more than 8 passenger seats that are over 10 years old among the vehicle-approval exemptions. Younger or otherwise non-exempt vehicles can require approval, so the route should still be confirmed for the individual car.
What should I send JMH if I want a car sourced?
Send the model, year range, trim or specification, must-have options, realistic total budget and timing. If you are flexible, say what matters most and what you are willing to compromise on.
ASK ABOUT A CAR / HUMAN CONTACT
Ready to ask
about your shortlist?
Send Japan Motor Hub the model, year range, must-have specification, budget and timing. You can copy your selected models from My Garage before opening the contact page.
Availability, costs and compliance are confirmed for a particular vehicle, not from a JDM4U reference page.
